The Marshal's job is to run fighter practice and ensure safety on
the field. Cooperation with the rules of the list and armor standards help keep

The Minister of Arts and Sciences reports on the things shire
members make and learn. He or she may organize competitions, workshops, or
lectures. Contact this officer if you would like to organize an A&S
gathering or event, or for information on who in the area shares your interests
or teaches.
Herald

The Herald helps people develop a name and arms to use in the SCA,
and also takes care of reporting awards and precedence updates, along with
making announcements and doing field heraldry or court heraldry. Contact this
officer for information on submitting a name, device, or badge, or for
information on the various aspects of heraldry.

The Webminister maintains the group's website. Where there is a Chronicler, the
Webminister reports to that office. Contact this officer if you have items you
wish to have published on the website.
Hospitaller

The Hospitaller (sometimes the Chatelaine or Gold Key) helps newcomers
understand the basics of the SCA and keeps the groups supply of loaner clothing
and dishes for newcomers to borrow until they can buy or make their own. He or
she may also be responsible for generating flyers or handouts (all of which
must be approved by the Kingdom Hospitaller). Some larger groups may separate
the Hospitaller and Gold Key, to reduce the workload. Contact this officer if
you are new to the SCA (or just the local group), if you are bringing newcomers
who will need loaner gear, or if you have ideas for PR materials.
Minister
of the Lists

The Minister of the Lists (reporting to the Knight Marshal) keeps the records
of tournaments, and ensures that those on the field have the appropriate
membership or signed waiver, and authorizations for the activity they are
participating in. Contact this officer if you are planning a tournament, or
wish to provide your membership and authorization information for his or her
records.
Chronicler

The Chronicler puts out the group's newsletter. Contact this officer if you
have items you wish to have published or need subscription information. Our
small shire does not currently have need for a newsletter, but this office may
be filled as we grow.
Chirurgeon

The Chirurgeon is the first-aid officer for the group, and maintains a kit in
case of injury or illness requiring assistance. The office requires a current
First Aid and CPR certification. Contact this officer if you need first aid
assistance at an event, or if you are planning an event and need a chiurgeon to
be available at your event.
Waterbearer
Vacant
The Waterbearer (reporting to the Chirurgeon) maintains the water supplies for
the group, and assists in keeping the populace hydrated - particularly around
hot tournament fields. Waterbearers also often arrange for sports drinks,
citrus fruits, or pickles. Contact this officer if you need water at an event
or if you need a waterbearer at a practice or event you are organizing.
